  • Safety Rules for the Lab

    1. Always make sure the equipment is powered off before plugging a cord in or unplugging a cord from an electrical outlet.
    2. The signal to evacuate the building is an emergency bell. All class members should remain together and exit the classroom and building in an orderly manner.
    3. If you have to shout for someone less than five feet away to hear you, your equipment volume is probably too loud. The volume should be lowered.
    4. In case of a fire, aim the nozzle of the fire extinguisher at the base of the fire.
    5. Always keep all four legs of your chair on the floor. Do not lean back or roll around the room in your chair. Only sit in the seat of the chair. Do not sit on the back of the chair or on a table.
    6. Food and beverages should not be near the equipment.
    7. NO objects (including hands, screwdrivers, or pens) should be inserted into the opening of any of the equipment for any reason.
    8. You should never play around the equipment (this includes running, wrestling, etc).
    9. Never operate electrical equipment while you are standing in water.
    10. If any equipment is broken, notify the teacher immediately. Do not attempt to fix the object yourself.
    11. Always keep the air vents of the equipment uncovered.
    12. Never use equipment that has damaged cords.
