Head Coach - Brett Boutwell,  bboutwell@saralandboe.org 

Coach Boutwell is entering his 10^th year at Saraland high School.  He began his career at UMS-Wright in 2003 and became a head coach in 2007. In eight years he went 196-82, won five area titles, and two state titles in 2010, and 2011. Coach Boutwell was voted state Coach of the Year by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association in 2010 and 2011. He became a Spartan in 2015. Since then, the Spartans have won seven area titles and have made the playoffs for nine consecutive years, reaching the second round eight of those years and finishing in the Elite 8 in 2022. Coach Boutwell reached 400 wins in his career in the 2022 season, giving credit to the assistant coaches and all the players he has had the privilege to coach over the years! The Spartans have had over 30 players sign baseball scholarships during his time and one player reach the college world series. The Spartans have been in the state rankings on a consistent basis and have been ranked was ranked number two in the state in 2011 when that team broke the school record with 31 wins. Coach Boutwell is married to his wife, Amy who is a 5^th grade teacher. They have two children, Emma Grace and Clete.

Coach Evan Braun attended Leroy High School where he played for hall fame coach Danny Powell.  As a high school player, he was a part of the 2001 state championship team at Leroy.  He played junior college baseball at Alabama Southern (now Coastal North).  Coach Braun coached for 10 years at Beauregard High School.  As an assistant, his team was the 2012 4A Runner Up.  He was the head coach at Beauregard from 2015-2019. During that time, his teams made the playoffs each year and made it to the Elite 8 in 2017.  Also in 2017, Coach Braun coached in the North South All Star game.  In his final season at Beauregard, he was named 2019 Opelika Auburn News Coach of the Year.  Coach Braun is in his 5^th year at Saraland as a varsity assistant, and he coaches 1^st base, infielders, and pitchers.  He is married to Mimi Braun who works at the Early Education Center and has 3 kids Milly-Gray, Wills, and John Michael.

Assistant Coach – Stuart Fuller  sfuller@saralandboe.org

Coach Fuller is in his second year assisting with the Spartans varsity baseball team. He will be responsible for working with the hitters and pitchers.  This will be Coach Fuller’s 36th year to coach baseball at the high school level.  Coach Fuller is married to his wife, Lanette, and they have three sons, Peyton, Easton, and Keaton.

Assistant Coach – Johnny Sklopan  jsklopan@saralandboe.org

Johnny Sklopan is in his second year at Saraland High School as a varsity assistant baseball coach and is starting his third-year coaching baseball.  Johnny is a graduate of Saraland High School and is proud to be serving his alma mater. He is a also a graduate of Spring Hill College where he played baseball under coach Frank Sims. In 2019, while Coach Sklopan was at Spring Hill, the Badgers won a SIAC Conference Championship and reached an NCAA regional. Coach Sklopan is a 9^th grade history teacher and serves as an assistant football coach. He is married to Chelsey and they have a one-year-old daughter, Scottie. Coach Sklopan looks forward to a successful season.

Assistant Coach – Russell McDuffie  rmcduffie@saralandboe.org

Russell McDuffie is one of the JV baseball coaches here at Saraland. He has been coaching at SHS for seven years and feels very fortunate to be part of such a great school system and baseball program! Coach McDuffie currently lives in Saraland, but is originally from Semmes. He attended MGM High School from 2004-2008 and graduated from the University of South Alabama where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in History/Secondary Education. He has been married to his wife Lindsay for 10 years and they have two children, Emma (6) and Tripp (3).  Coach McDuffie is ready for another great season! Go Spartans!

Assistant Coach – Daniel Taylor  dtaylor@saralandboe.org

Daniel Taylor is entering his 5th year at Saraland High School and is a varsity assistant for both the Spartan football and baseball teams. As a student at Saraland High School, Coach Taylor was part of the successful class of 2019. In the last five years, Coach Taylor is proud to have been a part of new team records set by previous teams. This year, the 2023 Spartans baseball team became the first team to reach quarterfinals in the state playoffs. Coach Taylor is excited and geared up for another great baseball season! Go Spartans!

Assistant Coach – Skylar Mosley smosley@saralandboe.org

Coach Mosley is a Saraland Alumni where he played football and baseball. He also graduated from the University of West Alabama where he earned a Master's Degree in Social Science. He and his wife, Maggie, have a daughter named Anna Rae.  They are all looking forward to the baseball season and Coach Mosley is thrilled to be a Spartan again!
