HEAD COACH: DRU POWELL
Dru Powell Enters His First Season (2023-2024) As the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Saraland High School Following One Year As an Assistant Coach. Coach Powell Has Spent Time As a Head Coach at Thompson High School (4 Years), Spanish Fort High School (7 Years), and Gulf Shores High School (2 Years) During His Career and Has Compiled a 254-144 Career Record.
While at Thompson, Coach Powell Won 74 Games in Four Years and Played in Two Regionals After the Team Had Won One Game Before His Arrival. at Spanish Fort, He Became the School's All-time Winningest Coach (153-65) and Took a Team to the Final Four in 2017. Prior to That, Coach Powell Spent Two Seasons at Gulf Shores High School, Winning the School's Only Regular Season Area Championship in 2010.
Coach Powell Was on Staff at the University of Alabama for Four Years Under Coach Mark Gottfried As a Manager and Graduate Assistant. He Currently Serves As the Ahsaa Team Administrator for the Al-ms All-star Basketball Game. Coach Powell Is Married to Jenilee, and They Have Three Children, Dane, Parker, and Olivia Caroline.
HEAD JV/ASSISTANT VARSITY COACH: DANIEL FORSHIER
Daniel Forshier Is a 2003 Graduate of Murphy High School and 2007 Graduate of Spring Hill College Where He Majored in Applied Mathematics. Coach Forshier Is Married to Sheryl Forshier and They Have Two Children, James and Olivia. This Is His 16th Year Coaching Basketball. He Spent 8 Years As an Assistant at Murphy Hs, 3 Years As Head Coach at Williamson Hs, 3 Years at Blount Hs As Head Coach. This Is Coach Forshier’s Second Year As an Assistant at Saraland Hs. He Teaches Math and Enjoys Spending Free Time with His Family.
ASSISTANT (VARSITY) COACH: DANIEL PEEBLESDaniel Peebles enters his first season as a Varsity Boys Assistant Basketball coach at Saraland High School. Coach Peebles is starting his eleventh year overall coaching basketball. Daniel is a graduate of Foley High School and the University of Mobile. Previously, Daniel has served as a head middle school boys’ basketball and boys track coach at Denton Magnet School of Technology. A varsity boys assistant and junior varsity boys head coach at Foley High School under Coach Shumbe Hunter, Spanish Fort High School under Coach Dru Powell, and most recently McGill-Toolen Catholic High School under Coach Phillip Murphy. Coach Peebles has also served as head freshmen boys basketball coach, Junior varsity boys soccer coach, and head strength and conditioning for boys’ basketball at stops along the way. Coach Peebles is grateful for the opportunity to be teaching and coaching at Saraland High School. He is looking forward to the future success of the boys basketball program.
HEAD FRESHMEN COACH: LUKE LANIERLuke Lanier is entering his first season (2023-2024) as the freshman head basketball coach at Saraland High School. He’s also an assistant on the JV/Varsity basketball team. Coach Lanier has been a physical education teacher at Saraland High School for three years. He is a 2012 graduate of Thomasville High School and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Alabama. Coach Lanier also coaches Track for the Spartans.
